No shortcuts. No quick fixes. At Nute, rebuilding the program has meant digging deep and playing the long game, and this fall, the payoff might finally start to show. Head coach Karen Pearson returns nearly her entire roster from last season, including three seniors and a core of sophomores who were thrown into the fire early and have come out tougher, smarter, and more determined.
“We had a very young, inexperienced team last year with no seniors,” head coach Karen Pearson said. “But they’ve been working hard this summer and have improved a lot. I’m happy with their progress.”
That progress is showing up across the board. Three returning sophomores—Kayling Marique (MB), Bella Colby (L), and Siena Picard (MB)—each saw significant time as freshmen and are now stepping in with much-needed composure and court vision. Juniors Hannah Cartier (OH), Amelia Currier (OH), Bella Cisneros (RS/S), and Kalleigh Pallone (S) round out a lineup that has a better sense of how to compete in Division III.
A trio of seniors will lead the Rams: Jules Luca, a steady passer and strong server; Sophia Blair, shifting from right side to middle; and Keyara Eason, moving from DS to right side. All three have grown into key leadership roles and are embracing new challenges with grit.
The scoreboard may not always reflect it, but Pearson believes the real story is in their attitude: "People don't always see the dedication and hard work these girls have been putting in. They support each other. They enjoy the game. They’re learning every day.”
If growth is the goal, Nute’s already winning.
